I met a girl
Clothed in emerald green
A red scarf sparkling around her shoulders
She flashed by careening,
One second cartwheeling and humming,
Another second her nose in a book,
She came hovering over,
All the while her fingers moved
Plying a needle and thread
Through roses.
She looked at me,
Chocolate eyes flashing fire,
And asked,
“Do you find me distracted?
Disorderly? Lacking attention?
Dysfunctional? Hyperactive?
Difficult to keep up with?
Would you like be to be still?
Steady? Focused? Serious?”
She placed the garland around my neck,
Saying, “Don’t you see,
I am Hummingbird
Not Heron”
Before she flew away.
I met a girl
A humming bird girl
One second here then there
Thrumming in constant motion
Diminutive magnificence
Energy amplified
Eyes sparkling she left a trail
Vibrating with joyous wonder
As she flew;
Have you met her too?
That’s so sweet and rockin’! You just gifted me a huge smile. I’ve had friends call me a hummingbird before. I never thought of it quite like You worded it. That’s pretty cool! Thank You and Cheers!!! 🙂

They sure are, there’s three females who come by regularly and chitter at each other; inevitably two will fly off chasing one another and chirring while the third zips about in the flowers; have no idea what they’re doing . . . maybe territorial?? . . .but love being around them . . .they’re so playful!

I think they are being territorial! They crack me up! SOOOO lovely, and so fierce. I used to know what the Medicine of hummingbird was to some of the tribes. I forget now…but I think it was warrior or something surprising…we have a blast watching them, too. So busy and fun!!! 🙂

They’re certainly surprising! My sister in Arizona sees purple, blue, fuchsia, and other hummingbirds that migrate through there; would love to see them too. Considering they travel such great distances, I imagine they’d make great messenger birds or dream carriers 🙂

You’ve describing a hummer very well, but you might want to add “Tease you, chase you around, peep out a tune with the flick of my tongue.”
