Birds come and go.
Chickadees with their wings in motion
Flutter from branch to branch between trees,
Their movement quick and upward
While the cardinal streaks red hot
Linear across the horizon landing:
He sits content on his perch.
Birds come and go.
Sparrows hop zig zag in the snow
Their tracks leaving delicate imprints
While the hawk soars, wings open catching light,
Heron slips out of sight above trees,
Blue jays enter as a noisy crowd, and hummingbird?
Hummingbird is all over the place!
Birds come and go.
I watch them and learn
The nature of my thoughts
Mimics the motion of birds,
I watch them and learn
Observation is part awareness
As well as letting go.
