Painting is a portal to the sanctuary of my heart, a meditative practice. Through the act of painting, I create imagery that is inspired, informed by, and mirrors my journey as a human. I find it a replenishing and forgiving activity from where to enter a dynamic relationship between creation and destruction . . . there are no ‘mistakes’ in art, only transformation.
I work mainly with acrylics and watercolor pastels in layers that often incorporate collage elements. While canvas and wood are my preferred surfaces to create on, I paint mostly on paper in the pages of my art journals. It is in the sanctum of these journals that ideas for works on wood and canvas churn.
It is my aspiration that you enjoy viewing my paintings, and even find inspiration for your own creative journey while you are here.
Thank you for visiting!
Many Blessings.
Mariam
